Welcome to Volkssports
The American Volkssport Association (AVA) local clubs invite you to 'put on your walking shoes' and join us in a new kind of walk.

You do not have to be a club member to participate in Volkssport events. All are welcome.
General Information
- Volkssports are activities designed to promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Walking events are non-competitive and an excellent family activity.
- The events, usually 10 kilometer (6.2 miles), are neither pledge walks nor a contest of speed or endurance.
- Shorter distance is available upon request.
- Each person should walk, run or jog at a pace that is comfortable and enjoyable.
- Volkssports also include bicycling, swimming and cross-country skiing.
- All events are open to everyone.
- You may walk for free if you do not want IVV/AVA books stamped. If you want IVV/AVA distance, event and 'special event' books stamped, the cost is $3.00. If the event has an award the cost of the award is established by the sponsoring club.
- Events will have a start/finish location where participants register, fill out a start card, and receive trail instructions.
- The trails are rated 1-5 with 5 being the most difficult.
Weekend Events:
- These events will have a designated date and a time period to start and finish the walk.
- The start time window will usually be 2 to 3 hours.
- You will have at least 3 hours to complete the walk.
- The Club planning the event will distribute brochures with more detail about the individual event.
- Each event will have a designated Start/Finish location.
- These events are to be walked during daylight hours when the Start/Finish location is open
- A walk box with trail maps and instructions will be available at this location.
- When you arrive at the designated location, ask for the walk box.
- Read and follow all instructions before enjoying the trail.
- The Club responsible for the year-round trail will distribute brochures with more detail about the event
